Anthony Sabella anchors WTKR's Noon and 4 p.m. broadcasts.
News 3 brought Anthony on as a reporter in December of 2016. He was eventually promoted to weekend morning anchor, before taking over as anchor for the afternoon broadcasts in late 2024. He brings more than a decade of professional journalism experience to the team.
During his time working in Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina, Anthony has covered a wide range of stories, from breaking news and weather events to energetic live reports highlighting happenings around the area. As reporter for News 3 This Morning, Anthony spent much of the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic spotlighting local restaurants struggling to survive government restrictions.
Anthony was born and raised in Michigan. After graduating from Michigan State University with a Journalism degree, he immediately went to work a couple miles away at WILX (NBC/FOX) in Lansing, where he covered state politics. He followed that up with a two-year stint at WJRT (ABC) in Flint, MI, extensively covering the city's lead water crisis.
Anthony's work in journalism has led to several industry awards and nominations, including being named the Associated Press of Michigan’s "Rising Star" in television news for 2015. He's also an accomplished news photographer and editor, winning the Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters First Place award for "Best Multimedia Journalist" in 2022.
Anthony loves living in Hampton Roads and being a part of the vibrant culture here! When he's not at work, he's with his wife and golden retriever enjoying the local beach life and restaurant scene. He also has a passion for the arts. Anthony and his wife met while singing in a college a cappella group called State of Fifths. Anthony also played trumpet in the Michigan State University Spartan Marching Band. Currently, he's on the Hampton Roads Board of Governors for the Virginia Opera.
