NORFOLK, Va. — Randy's Auction Gallery on Monticello Avenue in Norfolk just hit the motherlode of antique toys and clocks.

The family of a collector in Virginia Beach has requested that Randy Fiel auction off the 130-item collection.

“There’s a lot of mechanical toys and you don’t see mechanical toys,” said Fiel.

He then cranks the back of a toy that is a little boy riding a bike that's about 14 inches tall.

"Little boy riding a bicycle. Looks like he’s got a little bell in the back,” said Fiel.

He told be the toy was from about 1920 to 1925.

Fiel says the Virginia Beach family's loved one collected the toys and clocks for more than 65 years.

“Hop-along Cassidy,” laughed Fiel. "You crank it up, and it'll go back and forth like this. This will go around like he’s lassoing."

The same collection also features dozens of antique clocks.

“These are hand painted, look at that!" He said with enthusiasm while holding a porcelain clock that's about twelve inches tall with brightly colored flowers on it.

“The young generation would buy this because its pretty its unique,”  said Fiel.

Fiel showcased another clock that is from France. It's slate and gilded with gold trim. He says that one was made in the late 1800's.

Rick Robinson collects, repairs and sells antique clocks in Suffolk. On the preview day before the auction, he said he’s looking for something special.

“Always looking for something different," said Robinson. "Something that’s good. Especially big five foot wall clocks.

I asked if they in demand?

"I don't know," he said laughing. "For me they are!"

And there happens to be one in the collection he has his eye on.

In a time of online sales, Randy is still expecting to bring in $30,000 to $40,000 for this particular collection.

“I’m old times,",”  said Fiel. "I like to touch it, examine it, I like to look at it to see if the tires wore, Ebay you can see a picture of it, but its not exactly what you thought it was."

If you'd like to attend the auction, it's being held Wednesday March 13 at 10:30 a.m.
