VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Are your daily walks getting a little stale?
Maybe you walk the same path by the same houses around your neighborhood, but I found a great spot to really change things up.
I think the key to keeping your momentum going is to have new and interesting things to look at while you walk. That’s why this weekend, I took a walk around the ViBe Creative District in Virginia Beach.
I was joined by our resident mural expert April Loveland and her crew, adorable 3-month-old Zoey and energetic 16-month-old Zealand.
You can’t say there isn’t plenty to look at around the ViBe District, which is located a few blocks off the Oceanfront between 16th and 22nd Streets.
WATCH: Bringing unconventional art to Virginia Beach neighborhoods
There’s plenty of cool, colorful artwork to admire everywhere you look, including more than two dozen impressive wall murals. But that’s only the beginning: If it isn’t nailed down, chances are it has become a canvas for a local artist. From the crosswalks to the parking meters to the utility boxes and everything in between, a block-long fence on 18th Street has become a gallery for dozens of artists.
Most local restaurants, breweries and antique shops are adorned with colorful murals.
While we just wandered through the district, there is an organized mile-long art walk you can do to make sure you see everything the ViBe has to offer.
