YORKTOWN, Va. - A team of Tabb High School students was named national champions of the 2022 National KidWind Challenge held in Texas last week.

The 2022 National KidWind Challenge was held last week in San Antonio, Texas during the American Clean Power (ACP) CLEANPOWER 2022 Conference.

More than 60 teams competed in the challenge.

Over the course of the three-day event, students were tested on their knowledge of renewable energy, their design and problem-solving skills, and their wind turbines’ energy output by a team of 30 renewable energy educators and industry professionals.

In the high school division, Tabb High School’s “Gone with the Wind” team was named this year’s champs.

Tabb High students partnered with James Madison University where they competed in the Collegiate-High School Challenge. The team placed first in this challenge as well.

The Tabb KidWind team won the regional challenge at Old Dominion University and the State Challenge at Virginia State University to qualify for the National KidWind Challenge.
