PORTSMOUTH, Va. — This week's walk is along the tree-lined streets of Olde Towne Portsmouth.

Starting on High Street, Olde Towne's main drag, stroll by some of the town's biggest attractions like the Portsmouth Art and Cultural center and the art deco Commodore Theater.

There are also dozens of great restaurants along High Street, but because we visited in the morning, most were closed. Probably for the best, because a plate of chicken and waffles at Roger Browns probably would have canceled out our healthy walk.

Olde Towne is also home to beautiful old churches, including St. Paul's Catholic Church, the first catholic congregation established in 1813, and Trinity Episcopal Church, which dates back to 1752.

For more historic sites, the charming houses just off of High Street are the largest concentration of 18th and 19th century homes on the east coast.

The brick sidewalks and trees are scenic, but can make walking a bit uneven, so be careful as you enjoy this trek.
