VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Do you have documents around the house that you want to get rid of, but they have important information on them? Shred them!
Cars lined up at the Southern Bank on Virginia Beach Boulevard for the annual "Shred-A-Thon" on Saturday.
News 3 partnered with Southern Bank for the free chance to dispose of old documents safely.
The bank says doing it this way helps keep people from becoming victims of fraud in a world where those cases are happening more often.
"I think people have just had the opportunity to go through now that we're in a kind of normal state and kind of purge things that they don't need anymore," said Kelly Johnson with Southern Bank.
If you missed today's event, Southern Bank says just to wait, they're planning another Shred-A-Thon in the fall.
