NORFOLK, Va. - A familiar face found himself on Old Dominion's football field during a break in game action on Saturday.

News 3 anchor Kurt Williams was among four local prostate cancer survivors honored during the university's Blue Out game against East Carolina.

The Survivor Moment highlighted those who have courageously shared their stories to help spread awareness about prostate cancer. September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Since his prostate cancer diagnosis, Kurt has spent the last year highlighting every part of his treatment journey, culminating in his News 3 special "Don't Fear the Finger" that aired in early September.

Others honored at ODU included Brian Wynne, who recently started a prostate cancer awareness group "the Bald Dude Surf Club," and Dr. David Young, orthopedic surgeon, co-founder of the Jordan-Young Institute and a 24-year survivor.

The Blue Out game is hosted annually by SURF — the Schellhammer Urological Research Foundation.
