FRANKLIN, Va. — Sometimes the best story ideas come from News 3 viewers.
Recently, I opened my email and found an Every Day Hero nomination.
The writer told me about a bereaved parents group in Franklin run by Rosalind Cutchins, a woman who they say offers unconditional support around the clock.
So, photojournalist Michael Woodard and I drove to Franklin to tell her story. We heard testimony from group member Jeanette Racette who told me Rosalind understands the group on a personal level.
"This group has been there for me and my husband, I don't know where we would be without it. For somebody to be there that understands your pain because Rosalind has lost a child also," said Racette.
Some members of the group joined more than a decade ago. They told me one never gets over the pain of losing a child but you learn to get through it day by day and Cutchins is the heartbeat of the support group. They said she remembers heavenly birthdays and holidays with a small gift, a hug, or a phone call.
Cutchins devotion is beyond measure, her group members said, as she puts the group's needs above her own.
Cutchins is battling cancer, but she has never missed a meeting and schedules her treatments around the needs of the group.
