CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Over the course of several days in late March, 70 patients from across Hampton Roads passed through the doors of the Chesapeake Care Clinic, getting dental extractions, exams and oral cancer screenings free of charge.
The first Chesapeake Mini-Mission of Mercy clinic was a partnership between the Virginia Dental Association Foundation and the Chesapeake Care Clinic.
Dr. Peter Adams, Dental Director for the Chesapeake Care Clinic, was at the center of it all, helping coordinate volunteers and patient care.
For that, and his efforts to provide quality care to patients who need it at the clinic outside of the event, the Virginia Dental Association Foundation and Chesapeake Care Clinic nominated Dr. Adams for the News 3 Everyday Hero award.
Our community partner, Southern Bank, also had a $300 Visa gift card for Dr. Adams, which he's already promised to spend on the clinic.
"It's fantastic. It really, truly is. There are a lot of people in the community that really have some needs and we we don't want to overlook them. If we can help them out just a little bit, maybe one person have a little less discomfort, then we feel like we've done we've done something," Dr. Adams told News 3 anchor Todd Corillo.
