HAMPTON, Va. - How does one make the community a better place?
That’s the question a business owner and his partners put to their students at their beauty school.
When children were preparing to return to the classroom, they put their skills to work to put a little sparkle on cars and crowns. Dozens of folks lined up for free haircuts and car washes as the community prepared for the new school year. It was a popular event at Asher Institute of Hampton.
Once folks got word the services were offered free of charge they had a line of cars for a wash and tiny clients for the back-to-school haircuts.
Danny Calhoun, part owner of Asher Institute was excited to offer the services: “We are in the beauty industry, that’s what we do we beautify the community, we beautify hair.”
It was such a wonderful experience Calhoun says they are already planning a toy and food drive for the holidays.
