NORFOLK, Va. — For many people, there is nothing in this world that is purer than the love of a dog.
That is an expression that Dick Partos lives by.
For 13 years and 7 months, he has brought fur love to patients at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
And it’s fair to say that the medical staff has also enjoyed the company of his therapy dogs. Dick now brings Sophie to visit patients on rounds twice a week, he has had 3 dogs providing pet therapy over the years.
The staff at Sentara Norfolk General say, outside of his normal visits, Partos is always willing to come in for special events. By the Hospitals count, Dick Partos has volunteered nearly 27 hundred hours.
His wife, Shirley Partos, was another longtime volunteer, who passed away last year, but Dick never missed a beat to help bring smiles to the faces of patients in recovery who enjoy the fur visits.
For that reason, News 3 and our Community Partners at Southern Bank celebrate Dick Partos as this week's News 3 Everyday Hero
