VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — This year, the NAS Oceana Air Show is celebrating trailblazing female aviators, five decades after they first made history in the Navy.
The first six female Naval aviators, aptly called “The First Six,” earned their Wings of Gold in 1973, according to the Navy. The show will pay tribute to the female Naval Aviators who've made a lasting impact in the military over the past 50 years.
