Kurt Williams was honored for over 25 years in television as an anchor and reporter Saturday night in Richmond.
The National Capital Chesapeake Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences inducted Kurt into the Silver Circle Group.
To be eligible for the Silver Circle, you must have 25 years under your belt in television.
Kurt Williams began his journey at WTKR in 1987, and has spent the past 36 years with us.
But before coming to Norfolk, Kurt got his start at Georgia State University's WRAS Radio, where he took on the role of News Director.
Though he had many responsibilities, that didn't stop him from finding more hats to wear.
Kurt's ambition drove him to seek additional experiences, woking at WREG, a nearby radio station, and Cable DeKalb, an Atlanta community affairs channel.
During this time, Kurt also started working an internship at WXIA-TV, which eventually paved the way for his first paid television news job at the assignment desk.
As Kurt ventured to Chattanooga, Tennesse, he filled multiple roles at WDEF-TV, including producer, weekend anchor, reporter, editor and prompter operator.
Kurt has truly shown versatility and commitment to his craft, and it shines through everyday as he comes into our station.
Among thanking his wife, Judy, and television wife, our Barbara Ciara, he thanked the other inductees.
Kurt's career here at News 3 has been extraordinary, and we are so proud of him.
