It’s that time of year again!

News 3’s Holiday Helpers campaign kicks off Monday, November 28 and runs through Wednesday, December 14.

As part of this campaign, we’re asking people to donate money and/or new toys to help families in shelters and transitional housing who might not otherwise be able to give their kids a Christmas.

Donations made benefit ForKids Virginia and other local charities helping children in need. This year, News 3 is challenging the community to donate $15,000! Last year, we raised nearly $12K so it's time to raise the bar.

Kids who live in area shelters in Hampton Roads are mostly unaware that Mom and Dad have fallen on hard financial times. That is one of the many reasons we ask News 3 viewers to donate a toy for our Holiday Helpers campaign.

Time is running out, as ForKids will begin distribution to families in a couple of weeks.

If you would like to be a holiday helper, you may drop off a toy at any Virginia Southern Bank or the ForKids location in Chesapeake at 1001 Poindexter Street.

How you can help?

You can drop off new Christmas gifts at the following locations from November 28 to December 14:

  • Any Southern Bank location in Hampton Roads
  • ForKids The Landmark Center at 1001 Poindexter Street, Chesapeake
  • ForKids The Birdsong Center at 119 W. Constance Road, Suffolk
