HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — The Ability Center of Virginia, a non-profit that supports adults in Hampton Roads with disabilities, is selling handmade holiday cards.
The center's ArtWorks Program allows men and women with disabilities to express themselves through art. The original cards cost $4 each, or you can buy 3 for $10.
Each card is also signed on the back by the artist who made it.
"These are made by some very exceptional people and just like everyone else, we love to have a place to go and feel welcome and accepted and the ability center definitely does that," said Eric Sobotta, an ArtWorks program member.
The non-profit is also hosting an open house on Wednesday until 6 p.m. where they are selling other handmade goods like 'cookies in a jar' and holiday decorations.
All of the money raised goes directly back into The Ability Center. The non-profit says they hope to use the money to buy a larger facility so they can serve more adults.
Members will be making cards every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. You can also call the center at (757) 497-7474 to request a card.
