VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A big celebration is happening in Virginia Beach to celebrate Haygood Skating Center's 50th anniversary!
The party kicks off at noon on Saturday, August 5.
Haygood promises some free skating, bowling and other entertainment at the event. Mayor Bobby Dyer will be there to mark the occasion.
A lot of people have great memories from the skating center over the years.
In addition to its vibrant environment, Haygood is also known for giving back to the community. In 2021, our Blaine Stewart went there to catch up with owner Brandon Stokes during the pandemic. Stokes was busy giving back to the community, even when so many small businesses, just like his, were struggling.
