HAMPTON, Va. — A local expo is providing an event to highlight Martin Luther King Jr., and to give back resources to the Hampton Roads community.
It's called the MLK Community Health, Wellness, Medical Clinic Career and Business Resource Fair. The name explains the purpose of the guest speakers, workshops, vendors, and nonprofits provided to attendees walking through.
"African Americans are underrepresented in clinic trials so the purpose of this outreach is to reach out to them and find medication that works best for them," said Grace Kabengela, a community healthcare worker at EVMS.
Free health screenings, remote access medical clinics, insurance enrollment, job applications and more were shared inside of the Hampton Roads convention center, to help you thrive in 2023.
"Whether it be teachers, instruction assistants, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, they're all needed in our school divisions so this would be a perfect opportunity to see if we can find some of those people," said Shari Huggar, a staffing specialist with Hampton City Schools.
