CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Saturday, the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Foundation welcomed the Youth Virginia Regiment for Family Fun Day at the museum.
Ahead of the Fourth of July, visitors were able to learn the importance of the Declaration of Independence and re-enacting history.
"Particularly, with us, we're concerned with the youth," Tom Sasso, Director of Youth Virginia Regiment said. S"By dressing out, and kids love to play, they love to dress up, it gets them to kind of take notice [and] want to dress out. Our unit, in particular, our youth teach other youth. I can teach youth all day, but when they interact with another youth, it’s just like playtime with them. So, they’re learning but through play."
Sasso said anyone ages 8-18 can sign up.
