Giving back to their communities: Hampton Roads community leaders celebrate the holidays

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — Local law enforcement and fire departments celebrated the holiday season by giving back to their communities.

Below is some of what they did!

Norfolk Police Department:

Norfolk police shared: "Southern Trust Mortgage, #NorfolksFinest #Santacops and #SantaClaus brought nothing but #toys and #joy, to the families whose apartments and belongings were lost to a devastating fire in the #NorfolkVA #Berkley community, a few nights ago!"

Norfolk police shared: "We too believe, “Anyone can be Santa!” Thanks to #NorfolkPD ‘s 7th annual holiday partnership with #cocacola, 150 #NorfolkVA families will receive a non-persishable food kit, including a Kroger gift card..."

Norfolk Sheriff's Office:

The Norfolk Sheriff's Office shared: "NSO deputies teamed up with Walmart for a wonderful event! Ten lucky children were selected and each received a $50 gift card from Walmart to pick out toys they wanted for Christmas. Each child was then paired up with a deputy who helped them select their items and made sure they stayed within budget. Four of the children picked out bikes and others picked out items such as stuffed animals, basketballs, scooters, and more..."

The Norfolk Sheriff's Office shared: "Today Sheriff Baron and NSO personnel delivered 100 turkey and 50 turkey breasts to citizens, non-profits, and churches throughout the city. Just as we did at Thanksgiving, we distributed the turkeys and all the sides to go with them to people who may need a little help this holiday season. In all, between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we have distributed 300 meals..."
