MANTEO, N.C. — The Outer Banks SPCA said its longest resident finally got adopted.

On Saturday, officials posted Acorn had been adopted after spending 633 days in the shelter.

It's a moment staff were waiting for, they said in a Facebook post.

"Our staff and dedicated volunteer Brad have grown such an attachment to Acorn over the past few years," said We remained hopeful that one day the right person would take the time with him and give him the home he deserves and our wish came true!"
