CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A Chesapeake fifth grader received a big honor Monday for his quick response to help save his mom during a medical emergency.

Chesapeake police presented Western Branch Intermediate student Elias Faroul with not one, but two awards: the Life Saving Assistance Award and the Chief's Award of Recognition.

Police say Elias quickly called 911 earlier this month after his mom went into anaphylactic shock, which is a severe allergic reaction. He calmly told police what was happening and kept his two little sisters calm while they waited for emergency responders to arrive.
