SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk's annual holiday tree-lighting is just around the corner.
The city says that the Grand Illumination Ceremony will be Friday, Nov. 17 at Market Park, according to a recent media release. Flipping the switch on the the 32-foot tree will ring in the start of the holiday season for Suffolk.
The event is family friendly and will have seasonal music, performances by Oakland Elementary School Choir and complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides, according to the city. There will also be holiday-themed crafts, puppet shows and a visit from Santa Clause after the tree-lighting.
The city says that parking is available at the Suffolk Visitor Center at 524 North Main Street, and shuttles will run from Godwin Courts Building parking lot and First Baptist Church parking lot starting at 5:45 p.m.
