NORFOLK, Va. — A new member is coming to the Virginia Zoo family in June!

In a Facebook post on April 2, the zoo announced that its Bornean Orangutan, Dara, is expecting a baby. This will be the second-ever orangutan born at the Virginia Zoo!

The Bornean Orangutan is a critically endangered species and the zoo says that the coming baby represents a huge conservation success.

The zoo says that Dara and her partner, Solaris, were a recommended pair for breeding from the Orangutan Species Survival Plan.
