Happy 2023, Hampton Roads! We're helping you plan the start of the new year with three things you can do.

Admirals vs. Royals
This Wednesday, the Admirals are back at home taking on the Reading Royals. The puck drops at the Scope Arena at 7:05 p.m. It’s $2 beer night and tickets start at just $15.

MacArthur on Ice
If you want to ice skate, you still have time to do so at MacArthur on Ice. It’s underway through January 16. It costs $16 per person but just $13 on Tuesdays.

Garden of Lights
There are now extended nights for Dominion Energy’s Garden of Lights at Norfolk Botanical Garden. It’s called “Extended Thank You Nights,” and they run each night through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s still $15 to $20 a person.

Christmas at the Circus
If you're looking for a way to ring in the new year with the family, ‘Christmas at the Circus’ is still going on at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. The magical performance, which includes death-defying acts, is put on by the Do Portugal International Circus. The show runs every day through Sunday. Tickets start at $15 a person.

Olde Towne Antique & Flea Market
It's nearly the first weekend of the month, which means Olde Towne in Portsmouth is hosting its antique and flea market. Rain or shine, there will be more than 70 vendors there selling everything from furniture to instruments to handmade crafts. It's happening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it's free to attend.

First Friday Artwalk
We are approaching the first Friday of the month, which means Elizabeth City is hosting its First Friday Artwalk. Each month features a new artist and new activities throughout town. The walk kicks off at 4 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m.
