Mother's Day Signature Dinner Cruise
This Sunday is Mother's Day! To celebrate, you can take your mother on a ride down the Elizabeth River. City Cruises Norfolk is hosting a special Mother's Day dinner. It's from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and tickets cost $80 a person.

Beach Music Weekend
Get ready for music to return to the Oceanfront this weekend! While it may not be as big as Something in the Water, Beach Music Weekend is back in the resort city. It's happening both Friday and Saturday at 31st Street. It will feature several local bands, along with food trucks, vendors and a car show. Tickets are $20.

Strawberry Picking
Get your baskets ready! Strawberry picking is underway in our area. Many local farms kicked off the season back in April. Every day of the week, there's a nearby farm where you and the family can head to pick fresh produce. This includes Hickory Ridge, Greenbrier Farms and several farms in the Pungo area.

Portsmouth Library Adult Yoga
Why not take some time to relax mid-week? The Portsmouth Public Library (main branch) hosts a sixty-minute adult yoga session every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. We are told all you need to bring is a mat and a willingness to try new things.

No Fear and Blues Long Gone
You can also enjoy a night at the theatre this week! No Fear and Blues Long Gone is a 90-minute one-woman show paying tribute to jazz singer and civil rights activist Nina Simone. We are told the show will feature some of the star's biggest hits. Shows will run Wednesday through Sunday at the Wells Theatre. Tickets start at $35.

Gates County Rodeo
The Gates County Rodeo returns this weekend! We are told they'll kick the chutes open at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Parking is free, but you may need to get there early to grab a spot. Tickets are only being sold in person at several locations, and start at $20 for adults.

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
You can help feed families in need this weekend. This Saturday is the National Letter Carrier Association's Stamp Out Hunger food drive. All you need to do is put a bag of non-perishable items by your mailbox Saturday morning, and your mail carrier will do the rest.

Poochella
If you are in search of your new best friend, you can head to "Poochella" this weekend! Poochella is PETA's annual multi-shelter adoption festival. It's happening at Norfolk's Bea Arthur Dog Park, which is at PETA's headquarters. It's happening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, and it's free to attend.

Colonial Williamsburg's History in Hollywood
The Stryker Center is hosting a cool event tomorrow that will dive into Colonial Williamsburg's history in Hollywood. The town has served as the set for numerous television shows and movies, including John Adams and Washington's Spies. This special lecture will take you through that history and the impact it has had on the region. It's happening Thursday at 2 p.m.

Mom's Happy Camper
Mothers and their sons can enjoy Mother's Day a bit early this year at Greenbrier Farms. On Friday night, the farm is hosting a night out around the campfire. For $40 a person, mothers and sons can enjoy burgers, hot dogs and s'mores while playing yard games and taking a hayride. It's happening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Mother/Daughter Jazz Brunch & Tea
This Saturday, there is a mother-daughter jazz brunch and tea. It's happening at the 757 Events Oceanfront Premiere venue from noon to 3 p.m. Tickets cost $45 a person and some of the proceeds will go toward the Virginia Beach NAACP.

HRP Mother's Day Concert
All mothers and their families are invited to the Fort Monroe Theatre this Sunday for a special concert. The Hampton Roads Philharmonic is performing musical pieces inspired by mothers and the impact they have on our lives. The concert is happening at 2:30 p.m. and is completely free.
