As we approach Valentine’s Day, the Pearl Bailey Library in Newport News is helping you get a head start on those valentine's cards. From Jan. 30 through Feb. 10, kids of all ages are invited to make handmade valentines cards. They will then go to our local veterans.
Norfolk Admirals vs. Trois-Rivières Lions
The Norfolk Admirals will be back on the ice at the Norfolk Scope Arena this week. They take on the Trois-Rivières Lions this Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets start at $15.
How about taking the plunge into the frigid Atlantic Ocean? The Polar Plunge returns to the Oceanfront this Saturday, Feb. 4. Thousands will take a dip for a good cause. It's all in an effort to raise money for the Special Olympics of Virginia. It cost $100 to take the plunge, and there will also live music, food, and more.
Hampton Hammerheads vs. Charlotte Bootleggers
The Hampton Hammerheads are returning home this week. They are one of nine teams in the new professional box lacrosse league. They have a game this Friday against the Charlotte Bootleggers at the Hampton Coliseum. The game starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $15.
All aboard! Because the Great American Train Show is also rolling into Hampton this weekend. On Saturday, you can immerse yourself inside a world of miniature trains. It's happening at the Hampton Roads Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and tickets cost $10.
Chris Rock ‘Ego Death’ World Tour
How about enjoying a night of comedy? Famous actor and comedian Chris Rock is in Norfolk this weekend for his "Ego Death" World Tour. He has shows at Chrysler Hall on Saturday and Sunday.
Elizabeth City First Friday Artwalk
We are approaching the first Friday of the month, which means Elizabeth City is hosting its First Friday Artwalk. Each month features a new artist and new activities throughout town. It takes place on Feb. 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This weekend, the Winter Carnival is returning to Newport News. There will be a synthetic skating rink, games, a hot chocolate bar, a live D.J. and more. It is completely free to attend. The festival is happening Saturday, Feb. 4 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the former Kmart on Oriana Road.
