Naro Minded: NOPE at ODU’s Planetarium
On Tuesday, Feb. 21, there is free admission to a 2022 major blockbuster movie. The ODU Planetarium is hosting the Naro Minded film series, which includes showing the film 'Nope' directed by Jordan Peele. The pre-show starts at 7:30 p.m. and the movie officially starts at 8 p.m.
In Portsmouth, there's an opportunity on Tuesday to recognize Black History Month at the Emanuel AME Church. Local artists with the Virginia Opera are bringing the power of Frederick Douglass back to life through their performance of "Pride in Black Voices." There's a performance at 11 a.m. and another one at 7 p.m. It is free, but you'll need to reserve a spot ahead of time.
How about a trip to the disco? Whether you are a long-time or recent listener to the 70's pop band ABBA, you are in for a treat this weekend. This Friday, the Norva is hosting the Gimme Gimme Disco, with an ABBA-inspired tracklist. Anyone 18 and older can attend and tickets cost $23.
