Outer Banks Pirate Festival
If you enjoy the high seas, then you can join a merry band of pirates in the Outer Banks! Kitty Hawk Kites is hosting the Outer Banks Pirate Festival. It runs Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. You can learn about local history, get some pirate gear, or even participate in scalawag school. The festival is free for everyone to attend.

Blanket Beach Cinema
If you're looking to get into a fall or Halloween mood, Oceanfront Eats will be showing "Hotel Transylvania: Transformania" as part of its "Blanket Beach Cinema" This Thursday, you can head out to 29th Street in Virginia Beach to see a movie on the sand for free! You can bring your blankets and chairs. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and Oceanfront Eats will provide snacks.

Symphony by the Sea
On Thursday, you can enjoy a concert out by the sea in Virginia Beach. The "Symphony by the Sea" concert series is in its 12th season, and this show features the Symphonicity Orchestra playing "Classical Comedy: Smile with the Symphony". The concert runs from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Plan on arriving early because the concerts tend to fill up the whole park!

Street Food Festival at The Shack
If you love food trucks and street food, Virginia Beach will be the place to be. The Shack is hosting a street food festival that will run Saturday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Local food trucks and restaurants are selling food items for $5 or less, and there will be live music, kids zone, local vendors and a whole lot more. Tickets start at $7.

Made in Newport News
This Saturday on the Peninsula, you can celebrate everything Newport News has to offer at the "Made in Newport News" event! The free event includes live music, a beer garden, food trucks, and tons of family-friendly activities. It'll also showcase all of the local artists, creators, and businesses in the city. Did we mention it's free for the whole family? It'll be at City Center at Oyster Point from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Teddy Bear Clinic
This weekend, you can take your little one and their favorite stuffed animal for a back-to-school check-up. The Virginia Zoo is hosting a "Teddy Bear Clinic" this Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Little ones can help their stuffed animal get X-rays and make sure they are healthy, while learning from zoo workers about how they care for animals. The event is free with the regular zoo admission, which is $19 for adults and $16 for kids.

50 Cent Concert
If you want to party like it's your birthday, 50 Cent is in town this weekend. He's headlining at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach. He'll be joined by Busta Rhymes and Jeremih. Tickets start at $41 for lawn seats, and the show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday night.

Silent Disco
This one is for our 21 and up crowd. This Saturday, the Waterside District in Norfolk is hosting a silent disco. For anyone who doesn't know what that is, basically, the entire crowd wears headphones and jams out to the music, when in reality it is dead silent outside. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the party kicks off at 8 p.m. Tickets are just $10 a person.

Live on the Lawn
Live on the Lawn is happening Friday night. It's part of the summer concert series at Taste Unlimited on Shore Drive. It's from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will have live local music, burgers and dogs and a lot of family fun.

Under the Stars
On Sunday, you can enjoy the symphony and fireworks. This will be on the Great Lawn at Christopher Newport University in Newport News. The Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform "Under the Stars" starting at 7 p.m. Families are encouraged to come out with a blanket and picnic basket to enjoy it all. The Peninsula Foodbank will also be there collecting donations to help battle food insecurity.
