Man killed by gunfire in Virginia Beach; One suspect in custody

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police are investigating after they found a man shot to death on January 11.

Police responded to a call for "shots fired" in the 900 block of Prince William Court.

When officials arrived on scene they found one victim, identified as 24-year-old Sequanae Jahkeem Roper, who had been killed by gunfire.

Another adult victim, suffering from an apparent non-life threatening gunshot wound, self-transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators responded to the hospital and determined that both gunshot wounds occurred during the Prince William Court shooting.

Two suspects were detained for questioning in regards to this incident, police say.

On January 14, police announced that one person had been arrested, and charged for an offense related to this incident. ​20-year-old Zhakel Tyrese Lane was arrested and charged with possessing a firearm while in possession of drugs.

He is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility.
