Woman dies at hospital after being hit by truck at Norfolk Home Depot

NORFOLK, Va. – A woman who was hit by a truck in the parking lot of a local Home Depot Friday afternoon has died.

According to the Norfolk Police Department, the call for the crash came in around 2 p.m. Officers responded to the Home Depot located at 1261 N. Military Highway, where they learned a woman, identified as 68-year-old Randi B. Ferraro, had been hit by a vehicle.

Authorities say she was walking in the store’s parking lot when she was hit by a truck that was trying to get into a parking space.

When first responders arrived, they found Ferraro lying in the parking lot. She was quickly taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment for her serious injuries, but she died shortly after arriving.

Police say the driver of the truck stayed on scene and was not hurt. No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported.

Once the Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team completes their investigation, their findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to determine charges.
