HAMPTON, Va. – Swimming advisories for Fort Monroe and Buckroe middle beaches have now been lifted, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
The swimming advisories did not mean the water was closed to swimmers, the department said. They meant that bacteria levels did not meet state water quality standards, and warned swimmers of elevated risk of illnesses.
Officials will continue to test the water.
