Women identified in fatal Chesapeake crash

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Police are investigating after a crash left two women dead on Tuesday.

Around 11:15 a.m., officials responded to a fatal crash in the 4400 block of Taylor Road.

Authorities initially reported that the driver of a 2013 Hyundai Sonata over corrected after hitting a curb. This vehicle then struck a 2006 Dodge Caravan that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 35-year-old Shanell Reid, died on scene. 78-year-old Annie Jones, who was riding passenger in the Hyundai, and the male driver of the 2006 Dodge Caravan were transported to a local hospital for injuries.

Jones later died from her injuries at the hospital.

Chesapeake Police Crash Investigators are continuing to investigate the incident. Since this is a fluid and ongoing investigation, the fault of the crash is now undetermined.

Authorities are investigating whether the crash is the fault of the driver of the Hyundai Sonata.

Taylor Road has since reopened to traffic.
