NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk community is remembering the 12 innocent people killed during Friday's mass shooting in Virginia Beach.

Compassion cards

From 5-8 p.m. Monday night, people from across Hampton Roads were invited to write "compassion cards" at Coaster Coffee located at 8418 Tidewater Drive in Norfolk.

They were written to first responders, the victims' families, city workers and hospital staff.

After the event, volunteers with the nonprofit will deliver the cards to those affected.

If you weren't able to make it, but still want to participate, you can send an email to hello@compassioncards.org and volunteers will assist you.
