List of vigils and memorial events for victims of Virginia Beach mass shooting

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - As the Virginia Beach community deals with the wake of Friday's mass shooting that left 12 victims and the shooter dead at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center, local churches and organizations are holding vigils to help bring residents together.

Through the weekend, many churches and people held services, gatherings and memorials to honor those lost.

A Family Assistance Center will be open Thursday and Friday, June 6 and 7 from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Sunday, June 9 noon - 5 p.m.

Here is a look at the memorials and gatherings you can attend this week:

Monday

  • 7:40 a.m. Bishop Sullivan Catholic HS - Students, faculty and staff are invited to gather and pick up blue ribbons at 7:30 AM in the gym.
  • 12 p.m. Courthouse Community UMC, located at 2708 Princess Anne Rd.
  • 5 p.m. Coastal Coffee (Compassion Cards), located at 8418 Tidewater Dr. (Norfolk)
  • 7 p.m. Courthouse Community UMC, located at 2708 Princess Anne Rd.

Tuesday

  • 7 p.m. St. Gregory The Great Parish will have a prayer response, it's located at 5345 Virginia Beach Boulevard (Virginia Beach)

Wednesday

  • 6 p.m., Old Dominion University, center lobby Webb University Center, located at 1526 W. 49th St. (Norfolk)
  • 6:30 p.m., The Carrollton Volunteer Fire Dept will host a prayer service to pray for the city of Virginia Beach, located at 15020 Carrollton Blvd.
  • 7 p.m. ,Vigil for Change, 2401 Courthouse Drive (Building 1) steps of City Hall

Thursday

  • Peninsula Prayer vigil, 6 - 7:30 p.m., located at the Bethel AME, 94 Lincoln Street. ( Guests asked to wear blue)
  • The Rock Church, located at 640 Kempsville Road, will hold a remembrance of the 12 victims at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6. The City of Virginia Beach says this remembrance, "VB Remembers," is an official event.

Saturday

  • 10 a.m. Memorial Walk for Virginia Beach Victims, Families & Community at Mount Trashmore Park, 310 Edwin Dr.

Sunday

  • 9 a.m. Charity Car Show and Memorial Service at the Landstown Commons Shopping Center
  • 7 p.m. Hampton Roads Ecumenical Council of Bishops prayer vigil, located at Grace Bible Church, 2956 Ansol Lane
