ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – An elderly man has died after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning, and police say they are searching for a suspect who fled the scene.
According to officials, the man, identified as 81-year-old George Grady Stokley, was hit around 3 a.m. while walking in the Mill Pond Road and Loop Road area by a vehicle traveling westbound on Mill Pond Road. Stokley died at the scene.
No further details were released by officials, and the case remains under investigation.
