Humpback whale washes ashore Corolla beach

COROLLA, N.C. – A whale washed ashore Whalehead Beach in Corolla Sunday, a spokesperson with the Marine Mammal Stranding Network Team confirmed to News 3.

Officials performed a necropsy on the 27 1/2-foot juvenile female humpback whale Monday. While they are still unsure how it died, visible injuries show it may have become entangled in netting.
