5 people displaced after house fire in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Chesapeake firefighters responded to a working residential fire in the 2600 block of Cayce Drive in the South Norfolk section of the city that has now left 5 people displaced.

A call came in around 3:31 p.m., informing officials of a fire that had started in a shed that is close to the back of the home.

After units arrived nearly seven minutes after the call, the fire had moved to the home and firefighters started an inside attack on the fire. The fire was pushing through the roof and began to extend to the structure next door.

Five people are displaced due to the damage that the fire has done to their home. There were no injuries reported and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced with lodging.

A GoFundMe account has been started in order to help the family raise money in this time of need.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. This story will be updated as information becomes available.
