GLOUCESTER Co., Va. - A man broke into the same house twice in the same day and is now behind bars, according to investigators.

Jared Rainville broke a window to gain entry to a home on Guinea Road on Monday, sheriff's deputies say.

Once inside, court documents say he stole alcohol and ran away through the woods, evading responding deputies.

A few hours later he came back to the same home and walked in through the same door much to the surprise of the homeowner, who by this time was sitting in his living room.

"Man, nobody would believe that," said Brandon Clark, who lives at the home.

Clark asked Rainville what he was doing, but says Rainville appeared to be drunk at this point. Rainville said he had left his backpack and was also very thirsty. "He walked right passed me, put his water bottle up to the sink, took the top off and set it down like he'd been here 100 times," said Clark.

Clark checked him for weapons and then called 911. Shortly after, deputies confronted Rainville. Court documents say Rainville was eyeing knives in the kitchen and not following commands. Eventually, he was tased and then arrested.

"You would never think in a million years someone would break in and then walk back into your home later that night," said Clark.

Clark says with a little courtesy things could've been different. "If he would've just come over while I was here, we could've become friends and had a few drinks together, you know."

Rainville has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering, petit larceny, attempting to willfully conceal evidence to obstruct an investigation and failure to obey a lawful order.

On September 17 Rainville pleaded guilty to breaking and entering, destruction of property and grand larceny charges. He is set to be sentenced in December.

Rainville has been linked to several other crimes within the county. As this investigation continues, Rainville may be charged with these crimes at a later date.
