NORFOLK, Va. - A man has died after a two-vehicle crash in the 1400 block of Norview Avenue Sunday evening.

Around 6 p.m., Norfolk Police were called to the overpass of I-64 for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Officers arrived to find 23-year-old Austin Cook who was seriously injured.

Cook was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was also taken to the hospital but is expected to recover.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Cook was driving eastbound in a Mercedes sedan on Norview Avenue when he crossed over into the westbound lanes and was hit by a Ford F150.

No other injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved.

Once police complete their investigation, their findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth's Attorney's office for review.

Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the 1400 block of Norview Avenue at the I-64 overpass have reopened after being closed.

As police continue their investigation, they are asking anyone who has information to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887). Tips may also be submitted via the P3Tips app.
