Edenton Police arrest man after Valentine’s Day murder

EDENTON, N.C. – Police have arrested a man they believe is involved with the death of another man on Valentine’s Day.

31 year old Andrew Jerome Copper was reported to have turned himself into authorities. Cooper is charged with the murder of Dwight Coston.

On February 14 around 3:15 p.m., the Edenton Police Department responded to a critically injured person at N. Granville Street and E. Carteret Street.

Officers said when they got to the scene, they found 36-year-old Dwight Coston. Coston was taken to Vidant Chowan Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police said Coston suffered stab wounds as the result of an aggravated assault.

Andrew Jerome Cooper of Redwood Ln, Browns Summit, NC, was then considered extremely dangerous and wanted by police for the suspected murder of Coston.

Coston’s death is being investigated as a homicide and this is an ongoing investigation, officials said.

Preliminary investigation indicates this was not a random incident.
