CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Two adults and one child have been displaced after a fire damaged their home in the 4300 block of Emporia Court Friday evening.

Chesapeake firefighters were called to the home in the Indian River section of the city, arriving five minutes later to find the home and a vehicle on fire.

The family was at home at the time of the fire but was able to escape safely.

The first arriving companies from Fire Station 3 deployed handlines and made an aggressive interior attack. Firefighters were able to control the fire by quickly minimizing damage to the interior of the home.

No injuries were reported.

The residents will be staying with other family members.

Emporia Avenue was closed from Sparrow Road to Fontana Avenue because of the fire, but it has since reopened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
