SUFFOLK, Va. – Crews with Suffolk Fire & Rescue are at the scene of a kitchen fire in the 2800 block of N. Nansemond Drive Thursday evening.

Authorities say the fire, which was called in at 6:00 p.m., is now under control. All four of the home’s occupants were outside of the home when firefighters arrived, and the fire was confined to the kitchen.

A firefighter received emergency medical assessment and treatment for a minor injury, and was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for further treatment.

Two adults and two children were displaced, and will be staying with family. The Fire Marshal’s Office said that while they will investigate the fire’s cause, they know it is not related to the extreme cold temperatures hitting the area.

There is no further information.
