HAMPTON, Va. - The Hampton Police Division is investigating a homicide in the area of Fox Hill Road and Nickerson Boulevard Sunday afternoon.

A call came in about the incident at 3:29 p.m.

Officers say they responded to a three-vehicle crash and found a woman inside one of the vehicles.

Police tell News 3 she suffered at least one gunshot wound. Another passenger was reportedly inside the car with the victim, but fled the scene after police arrived.

The woman's identity will not be released until her next of kin is notified.

It's been confirmed that the passenger and victim knew each other.

The other vehicles involved in the crash were interviewed by investigators, but they have not been identified as suspects.

There is no further information at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

Police are also investigating a second shooting that happened later Sunday evening, which left a woman dead and a man suffering from a stab wound. Around 4 p.m., officers responded to the 5100 Block of Goldsboro Drive.

Authorities say the shootings are unrelated incidents between two people who knew each other, making them isolated.

Effective immediately, the Hampton Police Division will increase street patrols after an uptick of violence since the holiday weekend.
