Police pursuit ends in Virginia Beach when vehicle crashes into pole

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — A police pursuit that started in Chesapeake ended in Virginia Beach Tuesday morning around 2 a.m.

According to Chesapeake Police, the pursuit started in the 2800 block of S. Military Highway after the vehicle ran through a red light between S. Military Highway and Campostella Road.

The vehicle, which had six people in it, got on I-64 heading westbound and got off at Indian River Road exit, continuing to drive into the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle reportedly crashed into a pole near the intersection of Lynnhaven Pkwy.

Six people were taken into custody. Charges are pending for the three juveniles involved. Three adults have been charged for multiple crimes.

Below are the three adults arrested and the charges they face:

Hassani Jackson, 18 year old from Norfolk:

  • Possession of a stolen vehicle
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Felony eluding
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving on a suspended license
  • Operating an uninsured vehicle

Akail Allen, 19 year old from Norfolk:

  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession of a stolen vehicle
  • Carrying a weapon within city limits
  • Not wearing a seatbelt

Lenique Green, 19 year old from Chesapeake:

  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor

Jackson was sentenced to a year and three months behind bars for receiving or buying stolen goods and eluding or disregarding police. His driver’s license will be suspended for a year as well.

Allen appeared in Chesapeake Circuit Court on April 4 for the following charges:

  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon – certified to grand jury
  • Carry loaded firearm – nolle prosequi
  • Buy/rec stolen goods – certified to grand jury
  • Obstruct justice – nolle prosequi
  • Safety belt violation – guilty

As of April 8, there are no updates for Green.
