CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It’s a day of firsts for former Old Dominion quarterback Taylor Heinicke. In his first career regular season start, the Panthers QB got the team on the board when he connected with Ian Thomas for a one-yard touchdown catch.

It was Heinicke’s first career touchdown pass, joining Colts receiver Zach Pascal as the lone Monarchs to score NFL touchdowns in program history.

Heinicke would go 33-of-53 for 274 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in the game. He also left the game for a brief period with an elbow injury during the first half.
