RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina officials on Monday updated the public on winter weather that impacted the Tar Heel state.

Over the weekend, many woke up in North Carolina to snow, with some parts of the state seeing over a foot of accumilated snow.

Gov. Roy Cooper officially declared a State of Emergency for North Carolina Friday as part of preparation for a winter storm.

North Carolina’s Triad and Triangle areas of the state saw most of the snow, which included the state’s capital of Raleigh and popular cities such as Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Durham.

Northeastern North Carolina – part of News 3’s viewing area – also saw a wintry mix that is still making its way across both Virginia and North Carolina’s coastal areas.
