Two men shot after attempted Norfolk home invasion near elementary school

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Police say two men were shot after attempting to force their way inside a home early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Marshall Avenue around 2:30 a.m., arriving to find a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Medics took the victim to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Shortly after this incident, another man walked into Sentara Norfolk with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police say he is expected to be okay.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the two men were armed with handguns as they tried to invade a home in the 1400 block of Goff Street. The men fled the scene after being shot.

The incident was not far from Booker T. Washington High School and Jacox Elementary School.

Police have not released the identity of the suspects at this time due to pending charges.
