NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A former Newport News fire department lieutenant has been sentenced to 20 days in jail after exposing himself to several co-workers.

Sidney Lucas entered a no contest plea on two counts of indecent exposure Monday morning.

During Monday's sentencing, we learned from prosecutors that he exposed himself to three female firefighters while on duty.

According to his attorney, the first incident happened in 2016.

The judge also sentenced him to community service and he must complete a sex offender assessment.

The three victims took the stand, before the judge handed down his sentence, saying the incident has impacted their personal lives and careers.

This is the second trial for Lucas for these charges.

A judge found him guilty of the charges in August and recommended a sentencing of 16 days in jail and four years of unsupervised probation.

The General District Court Clerk told News 3 he appealed the case, therefore it was sent to circuit court.

Lucas had been with the Newport News Fire Department from 2006 until submitting his resignation to the department on April 23, 2018.
