Norfolk ordnance disposal team responds after training mine washes ashore in NC

According to the Cape Chronicle newsletter, a training mine washed ashore south of Salvo, North Carolina Sunday.

The training mine was anchored in place by National Park Service rangers until a Norfolk-based U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team arrived to retrieve it.

The mine was found to contain no ordnance, and was safely removed from the beach after 2 p.m.
