Portsmouth Police investigate second deadly shooting in 24 hours

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Police in Portsmouth are investigating a deadly shooting in the 6200 block of Dunkirk Street, just hours after another fatal shooting that happened in the city around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the shooting happened around 11:55 a.m. Officers arrived on scene to find 26-year-old Reginald Lamont Smith II of Portsmouth suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper body.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide.

On Wednesday, police announced they have arrested 26-year-old Devontae Robinson in connection with the death of 26-year-old Reginald Lamont Smith II of Portsmouth. Robinson has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

A shooting that leftone man seriously injured in Portsmouth on Monday happened less than a mile away from where this deadly shooting occurred.
